The "Server Connection ID" message in Neverness to Everness is one of those errors that sounds like a server problem but is often local. It appears when the client fails to establish or verify your session with the login server — the handshake that proves your account, region, and client version before you reach the world. This article explains what the error really means, separates server-side causes from things you can fix at home, and gives a priority order for clearing it on PC, PS5, and mobile.
What the error actually is
Neverness to Everness (developed by Hotta Studio, published by Perfect World) runs four independent regional servers — Asia, America, Europe, and SEA — and cross-progression only works inside the same server. When you see "Server Connection ID," the client reached the launcher but could not complete the session handshake that binds your account ID to a server instance. That can fail for five distinct reasons, and only one of them is "the server is down."
It helps to tell this error apart from its cousins. "Failed to reach server" usually means the client never got through at all. "Disconnected" means you were in and dropped. "Server Connection ID" specifically means the session credential did not validate — so the fix is about identity, version, or the path to the login server, not about the game world itself.
The handshake itself works like this: when you press play, the client sends your account token and the client build number to the regional login server. The server checks three things at once — that the token is valid, that it belongs to an account registered on that specific server (Asia, America, Europe, or SEA), and that your build number matches what the server expects. If any one of those three checks fails, you get "Server Connection ID" instead of a world. That is why the same error can mean very different things, and why the fix depends on which of the three checks broke.
Why it is not always the server
Right after a major update or a new storefront launch (Steam, Epic, Samsung Galaxy Store), login queues and handshake hiccups are expected and usually clear on their own within minutes. So the first move is never to reinstall — it is to confirm whether the problem is you or everyone.
Step 1 — Confirm it is not a server-side outage
Check the official NTE status page, the Perfect World support feed, and community channels for maintenance or "login issues" notices. If others in your region report the same error at the same time, wait 10–15 minutes and retry; a handshake storm during peak login is common and not something a local fix will solve.
Expected result: if the status page shows an incident, you are done troubleshooting locally — the fix is on their side.
Step 2 — Check account/server mismatch
Because the four servers are independent, signing in with the wrong third-party login (email versus Facebook versus Google) or picking a server you never registered on produces a connection-ID failure. Confirm you are using the exact account and the exact server you created your character on. On PC, in-client: Settings → Support Center shows your UID and server.
Action: if you switched logins, sign out and use the original one. Progress does not merge across servers, so the "wrong" server simply rejects the session.
Step 3 — Rule out a broken or partial update
A half-downloaded patch leaves version mismatches that the login server rejects. On PC, verify the client through your store (Steam/Epic/Purple); on mobile, confirm the app finished updating; on PS5, check for a pending game update in the menu.

Step 4 — Free the login handshake from local blockers
Antivirus, aggressive firewalls, and even some "game booster" utilities can flag NTE's auth module and drop the session packet. Add NTE and its launcher to your firewall or antivirus allow-list, and temporarily disable a third-party "network accelerator" you may have running — a misconfigured one can break the handshake rather than help.
On Windows, the precise steps are: Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall → change settings → add both the NTE client and its launcher. On mobile, the same failure shows up as "login timeout" when the OS has denied the app background network access or data usage is set to "restricted" — check the app's mobile-data and battery-optimization permissions. On PS5, a forced proxy in the network settings can also intercept the handshake, so set the console's network to automatic if you ever changed it.
Action: retry the login. If it now connects, the blocker was local; keep the allow-list and remove the conflicting utility.
Step 5 — Fix the network route to the login server
If the handshake reaches Perfect World infrastructure but stalls, the issue is the path your ISP uses to the login server, not your bandwidth. This is the part most players miss: you can have a "fast" connection and still fail the session because one international hop drops the login packet.
