Can't Connect to Battlefield 6 in Russia? Why You're Getting Kicked and What Actually Fixes It
Since late 2025, a meaningful number of Battlefield 6 players in Russia — especially in the Far East — have been able to launch the game and log in, only to be thrown back to the main menu with a "connection failed" message moments later. EA's own status page shows no global outage, and the problem is largely absent outside Russia, which points away from the game servers and toward the connection path. This article explains why the session drops and gives the fixes that address the actual cause, plus the popular "fixes" that make it worse.
The pattern that gives it away
You live in Vladivostok or another Far Eastern city. Battlefield 6 installs, you sign in with your EA account, the menu loads — and then, before you reach a match, you are bounced to the main menu with "connection failed." You retry. Same result. Your internet is otherwise fine: YouTube, Discord, and downloads all work. That specific pattern — connects, then drops — is the signature of a broken or blocked route between your ISP and EA's matchmaking or game servers, not a slow connection.
A useful distinction: if you never reached the menu, the problem is at the account or login layer. If you reached the menu but cannot join a match, the problem is on the path to the matchmaking and game-server endpoints. The Russia reports are overwhelmingly the second type.

Logging in and reaching the menu uses one set of endpoints (account and auth). Joining a match uses a different, more demanding set (matchmaking and the actual game server, often behind Amazon, Akamai, or Cloudflare-edge infrastructure). If the path to those matchmaking endpoints is throttled, rerouted through a congested exchange, or caught by a service restriction, the client loses the session and EA kicks you to the menu to protect it. Two causes fit best:
- Traffic blockage on the Russia to EA route. The international hop your ISP uses to reach EA's servers is unstable or filtered, so the matchmaking handshake never completes.
- Service-level restrictions. Russia has at points restricted access to infrastructure providers that many games rely on; if EA's traffic rides on a restricted provider, the game-server endpoint becomes unreachable from your region even though the login endpoint works.
Server downtime and a sudden EA region ban are unlikely here: EA's status page shows no anomaly, and Russian players connected normally at launch, so a retroactive blanket ban makes no sense.
One practical way to tell which layer you are stuck in: open the in-game network or server-browser screen before a match. If you can see server names and ping values but joining still fails, the auth layer is fine and the matchmaking path is the fault — which is the route problem described above. If you cannot even see the server list, the block is earlier and may be the login endpoints instead. Either way the remedy below is the same: change the path.
Fix 1 — Re-route the connection (the lever that addresses the cause)
Because the failure is in the path, the most direct fix is to change the path. Action: set DNS at the router so every device benefits, reboot, and retry. This is low-risk and worth one attempt. If the menu still loads but you drop on joining after a DNS change, the DNS was not the broken link and you should move straight to Fix 1 rather than chasing more local settings.
Warning: What makes it worse — avoid these
Do not reach for a conventional VPN.
