Wuthering Waves PC Settings: Picking What to Sacrifice, Not What Tier Your PC Is

The tier-based approach ("if you have a 1060, set everything to Low") gets the mechanics right but misses the point. Two players with identical hardware might want completely different things. One wants locked 60 FPS at 1080p for combat clarity, willing to sacrifice everything else. Another wants 1440p at cinematic quality for exploration screenshots and doesn't mind 40 FPS. The right settings for their identical PCs are different.

This guide starts from what you want to prioritize, then walks backward to what your hardware can actually deliver, then tells you what to sacrifice to close the gap.

Step One: Pick Your Priority

Wuthering Waves has three visual dimensions you can invest in, and any given PC can max maybe two out of three:

  • Resolution (1080p vs 1440p vs 4K)
  • Frame rate (30 vs 45 vs 60 vs 120)
  • Graphics quality (Low, Medium, High, Very High)

You can't have max of everything unless you have a top-tier PC. So the first decision is which of these three matters most for how you play.

Scenario: You want smooth combat above all. Prioritize frame rate first, then resolution, then quality. Combat in Wuthering Waves is fast and cameras swing hard; higher FPS makes reactions cleaner. Setting: lock at 60 FPS (or higher if your monitor supports it), 1080p native, tune quality down until 60 FPS is stable.

Scenario: You want the world to look gorgeous while exploring. Prioritize resolution and quality, accept lower frame rate. 1440p or higher, quality on High or Very High. If your PC can only hit 40 FPS at these settings, that's fine for exploration; combat will feel less snappy but the visuals compensate.

Scenario: You want a balance. Aim for locked 60 FPS at 1080p with quality tuned to Medium-High. This is where most players land and it's usually the best compromise on typical mid-range hardware.

Scenario: You have a top-tier PC and want everything. 1440p or 4K, Very High quality, unlocked FPS matched to your monitor's refresh rate. Verify you actually hold your target FPS in demanding scenes (boss fights with heavy particle effects) not just in the menu.

Step Two: What Your Hardware Can Actually Do

Match your GPU tier to the resolution + quality combination that fits your priority:

  • Entry GPUs (GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1650, RX 560, Intel Arc A380 territory): Realistically 1080p at Low-Medium quality, targeting 45 FPS. If you want locked 60 FPS, drop to Low. 1440p is not viable on this class.

  • Mid-range GPUs (GTX 1660, RTX 3050, RTX 3060, RX 6600, RX 6600 XT): 1080p at Medium-High is comfortable at 60 FPS. 1440p at Medium is possible if you accept 45 FPS. This is the tier where most players sit.

  • Upper mid-range GPUs (RTX 3070, RTX 4060, RX 6700 XT, RX 7600): 1440p at High is comfortable at 60 FPS. 1080p can push Very High with FPS to spare. 4K starts being viable at Medium.

  • High-end GPUs (RTX 4070, RTX 4070 Ti, RX 7800 XT, RTX 4080, RX 7900 XT): 1440p Very High at locked 120 FPS if your monitor supports it. 4K at High or Very High at 60 FPS. This class can chase whatever visual target you set.

If you're below entry-tier or on integrated graphics, Wuthering Waves may run poorly regardless of settings. The recommended minimum is a 1060-class GPU for reasons.

Step Three: What to Actually Turn Down

If your hardware can't hit your target with everything on, these are the settings that give you the biggest FPS wins for the least visual loss. Turn down in this order:

Shadow quality. Wuthering Waves' shadow quality settings can be very expensive. Going from Very High to Medium often nets 15 to 25% more FPS with only moderate visual impact.

Volumetric fog and clouds. Beautiful but costly. Turning these to Low or Off recovers significant FPS in outdoor scenes.

Particle effect quality. This one is tricky because combat particle effects are what make Wuthering Waves feel dramatic. Low reduces the visual excitement of ultimates. Medium is a reasonable compromise if you need the FPS.

Reflection quality. Cheap FPS wins by dropping this. You'll notice less than you think.

Anti-aliasing choice. TAA is the good default (smooth, cheap). FXAA is cheaper but blurrier. Don't touch this unless you're already tuned elsewhere.

Things to leave alone:

  • Resolution. Don't render below your monitor's native resolution unless you're truly desperate; it looks worse than any settings drop would.
  • Texture quality. Textures are mostly bound by VRAM, not GPU compute. If you have enough VRAM, keep textures High; they cost little FPS.
  • Draw distance. In open-world games, dropping this makes the world feel wrong. Keep it at the game's recommended value.

Step Four: FPS Cap and Sync

Once you've picked your target and tuned settings to hit it, cap your FPS at the target. Uncapped FPS that swings between 30 and 90 feels worse than locked 45.

  • Entry hardware: Cap at 45. Enable V-Sync to prevent tearing.
  • Mid-range hardware: Cap at 60. Enable V-Sync if you don't have a G-Sync or FreeSync monitor.
  • High-end hardware: Cap at your monitor's refresh rate. If you have G-Sync or FreeSync, disable V-Sync and let the monitor handle sync natively.

A Brief Note on Network Lag

Sometimes what feels like frame drops is actually network lag masquerading as visual stuttering. Wuthering Waves is always-online, so network hiccups can produce symptoms that look hardware-related. If you've tuned settings carefully and still see stuttering, especially in combat or during boss fights, test your network.
