Valorant Error Code 43 — "There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client." It blocks you from reaching the main menu.

The error indicates a communication failure between your game client and Riot's platform servers.

Method 1: Check Riot's Server Status

Visit the Riot Games service status page. If servers are having issues, no amount of client-side troubleshooting will help.

Method 2: Restart the Riot Client

Close Valorant completely. Close the Riot Client from your system tray. Restart as administrator. Launch Valorant.

Method 3: Reset Riot Client Settings

  1. Press Win + R, type %AppData%, press Enter
  2. Navigate to Local → Riot Games → Riot Client → Data
  3. Delete RiotClientPrivateSettings.yaml
  4. Restart Valorant as administrator

The client regenerates the settings file with default values.

Method 4: Enable Vanguard Service

  1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, press Enter
  2. Go to Services tab
  3. Find the vgc service and ensure it's enabled
  4. Apply changes and restart

If Vanguard isn't running, Valorant can't authenticate your connection.

Method 5: Network Optimization

Network connectivity issues form a primary cause of VAL 43. GearUP Booster finds optimized pathways to Riot's servers, targeting connection congestion and peak-time fluctuations while reducing in-game ping and packet loss.

Download GearUP Booster

Search for Valorant, select your server, and confirm the boost. Then launch Valorant.

Prevention

Keep the Riot Client and Valorant updated. Don't disable Vanguard. Use a stable wired connection. Close interfering background applications.
