Albion Online Server Connection Problems: What Region You're On Changes the Fix
Albion is a game where connection stability matters more than the actual FPS you're getting. Not because it's mechanically twitchy (it's not), but because Albion is full-loot, PvP-heavy, and heavy-investment. A disconnect while carrying gear into a Black Zone loses you the gear. A disconnect during a ZvZ fight loses your guildmates a fight they were counting on you for. A disconnect while transporting T8 mats to market loses hours of gathering.
The wrinkle is that Albion runs three separate server regions (NA, EU, Asia), and connection problems on each region have different characteristic causes and different fixes. What works for a European player struggling on the EU server is not the same as what a South American player needs to connect stably to the American server.
Regional Reading of the Problem
NA Server (Amazon-hosted, US-based)
The NA server serves North and South America primarily. Players actually located in NA usually have solid direct connections; when they have problems, it's most often local (Wi-Fi, router, ISP-side).
Players in South America playing on NA see more instability because the route is longer and often less direct. Brazilian ISPs sometimes route through congested peering to reach US servers, producing high ping and disconnects during peak hours.
Common characteristic issues on NA:
- Local NA players: reasonably rare disconnects, usually traceable to their own network.
- SA players on NA: ping spikes in evenings (peak congestion on transatlantic peering), occasional full disconnects.

Serves European and MENA players well when routing is clean. Players in Europe generally get sub-60ms ping. Players in the Middle East and Africa see 80-150ms depending on route.

Scenario: You're on your local region and disconnects are rare but you've had one recently. Almost certainly local. Router memory, Wi-Fi drop, background process. Restart your router, verify wired connection, close background bandwidth users. If it doesn't reoccur, don't overthink it.
Scenario: You're on your local region and getting disconnected repeatedly. Something on your local network or ISP path changed. Check with Downdetector or the Albion server status page whether others are affected. If not, the issue is between you and the server specifically. Check firewall/antivirus (Albion updates can sometimes trigger security software into blocking traffic), then verify wired connection, then consider route optimization.
Scenario: You're on a distant region (SA on NA, MENA on EU, India on Asia) and disconnects happen at specific times. This is peak-hour route congestion. Your ISP's international transit is saturated during those hours. Route optimization is the reliable fix because it can find paths that don't go through the congested peering.

Server Status Check Before Fixing
Before working through your side, verify the server actually is up:
- Albion Online's official server status page shows current state per region.
- The Albion launcher displays alerts for known outages.

If it's a genuine outage, your fixes won't help until Sandbox Interactive resolves it. Save your time.
